Eligibility

Based on Article V, Section 1-4, A-L of N.J.S.I.A.A. Constitution,

Bylaws and Rules & Regulations:

  • To be eligible to participate in athletics for the fall season, you must have passed 30 credits during the previous school year.

  • To participate in athletics for the winter season - If you fail 1 or 2 courses in the 1st marking period of the current school year, you are placed on academic probation. If those grades are not brought up to a passing grade within 10 days of the new marking period, you may be removed from the team. Three (3) failures will result in automatic ineligible status.

  • For the spring season, you must pass 15 credits for the first semester (marking periods one and two).

  • Physical examinations are required before participation in athletics and cheerleading. Our school physician or your family physician can perform the examination.

  • All physicals before each season will be offered at Whippany Park with official notification of dates through the principal and nurse’s offices, with postings and loud speaker announcements.

  • If you choose to have your family physician perform the physical, please keep in mind that our Board of Education policy is to then have our physician sign off on your doctor’s physical form. Once our doctor completes this process, then the athlete may begin practice.

  • Six (6) days of practice are required by the NJSIAA after the physical before the athlete can participate in any scrimmage or game.
