Congratulations to the FANTASTIC CREW of the Whippany Park High School 2025 production of Grease! for being recognized with the Paper Mill Playhouse’s Rising Star Award for “Outstanding Scenic Achievement!”
The set was designed by Bryan Lynch and built, decorated and operated entirely by the students of WPHS. The set was unique in that it included a life-size “Greased Lightning” car which turned during the performance, in addition to the several mobile sections that featured a full-size bed, a burger joint, a city stoop, and a band stage.
Known informally as the “Tony Awards” for local high school theater, the Rising Star Awards are a prestigious acknowledgement of excellence in theater production. Whippany Park High School was selected for the honor from more than 130 submissions across the state of New Jersey.
The award was presented at the annual awards dinner on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, and was accepted on behalf of the crew by Mr. Lynch, who was instrumental in offering oversight of the successful completion of the set and its operation during the show.

Join the talented students at Whippany Park High School (WPHS) Theatre in the retelling of The Wizard of Oz, the beloved tale that has entertained audiences for generations, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home.
There will be four showings between February 26 and 28, 2026, at the WPHS Theatre, located at 165 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. Run time is approximately 2 hours, including one intermission.
Showtimes are Thur. Feb 26 and Fri. Feb. 27 @ 7pm, Sat. 28 @ 2pm and 7pm
Ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $12 for senior citizens, children and students. Tickets can be purchased online at https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/wphs-0/the-wizard-of-oz or during the following box office hours in the main lobby of WPHS:

· Saturday, February 21, from 10am-Noon
· Thursday, February 24 , from 3-4pm

The Wizard of Oz (RSC Version), by L. Frank Baum, with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, is based upon the classic motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros. This performance by WPHS is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc, a Concord Theatricals Company.
